Music within the studio
So I thought it was about time to write a blog… rather than explain once again the complexity and technological amazingness of the work that I do, I thought I would just write about one of my personal favourite things… Music.
There’s a huge library of music here. People contribute on a weekly basis in the form of cd’s and legally purchased mp3’s. This is great for variety, but it also means that I personally cannot police what music is brought in - resulting in some of the all time worst music being played within these walls.
I thought I would list the 5 worst songs on our playlist.
- Puff Daddy - I’ll Be Missing You
- Savage Garden - 3 Tracks, all equally as bad. WTF!!
- Prince - When Doves Cry
- Europe - The Final Countdown (This is okay sung at the top of your lungs when plastered at 3am, but at work- no.)
- Go West - We Close Our Eyes
There we are, I am sure I could easily make a list of the worst 50 songs on the playlist, but I do not have the time. Where does this music come from? Who does it rightfully belong to? Should I take matters into my own hands and ensure that only great music is played at work?
If it was up to me it’d be loaded up with Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Disturbed, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie.. But no… apparently the music I like is “not suitable in the studio environment”… Well… I find listening to Savage Garden “not suitable in the studio environment”…
The time will come!
